Ms. Raimond has always had a fascination for art. She has worked as an art therapist and web designer, honing her artistic and creative skills. Now she puts most of her energies towards photography. Nature and the wildlife fascinate her, and her snapshots of the outdoor creatures, especially red foxes, illustrate her talent for capturing the allure of the natural environment.

Ms. Raimond also writes professionally about nature and photography, and her work has been featured in several magazines. One of her favorite hobbies is painting, but considering her talent, it may one day become a professional endeavor.

Blog post of 3/13/17 – another art sale & St. Paddy’s day art contest

Yesterday I had another person buy my scribble dachshund drawing on Etsy!

ets6-scribble

My weiners, errrr, I mean dachshunds seem to be very popular!

Anyways, I just finished reading “Essential Blake” by Stanley Kunitz, a collection of William Blake’s most important poems,  & have started reading “The Portrait of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde.

Check out my art contest on Fine Art America for St. Paddy’s Day. I just had to do one being part Irish and enjoying a drink or two or five

The voting will begin in on Wednesday & anyone can vote!

Hope all my readers are having a wonderful day!

My super late blog post – had another sale!

I know that it’s been a while since I’ve made a post on this blog – almost a month! I’ve just been so busy & haven’t had the motivation, but now that I’ve got things under control I can finally start ranting once again!

A few weeks ago I had another sale on Etsy of a dachshund drawing! 🙂

ets6-scribble

I’ve been having fun experimenting with watercolor & have made several pieces that I will upload eventually.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Hopefully some of you out there have more to do on that day than me :p Here’s a corny joke about it:

Q. What is the difference between a calendar and you?
A. A calendar has a date on Valentine’s day.

hehe

My 1st Blog Entry of 2017 – Had My 1st Art Sale!… Sort of

It has taken me 8 days into 2017 to muster up enough gusto to type up a blog entry. All of the food and champagne I’ve been consuming has made me too sluggish to do much of anything, but here goes my attempt.

I had a nice surprise the day before New Year’s Eve. I got an email saying that I had sold one of my dachshund drawings on Etsy, making it the first artwork I’ve ever sold! Even though it’s just a digital download of my drawing, I’m still going to let it count 🙂

doxie-sold

I spent New Year’s Eve watching lots of tv, eating pizza rolls, and drinking a bottle of champagne. I know what you’re thinking – what a party animal! I know, I’m just wild. Unfortunately, I missed the whole Mariah Carey incident. I was watching “That’s Entertainment!” on TCM instead. I’m not a fan of pop music, so watching Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve just give me a headache. I also don’t understand the appeal of waiting outside for hours to see a ball drop :p

Anyways, I hope that everyone had a fun and happy holiday season!

2016 Christmas Art Contest Winners!

It’s been hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit this year due to the 80 degree weather I am currently experiencing. Yes, I know you’re rolling your eyes at the thought of me complaining about the heat, but for most of my life I lived in a place that actually went through the four seasons, so I’m used to a cold winter.

Instead of traveling far to experience a white Christmas, I decided to create a contest on Fine Art America entitled “Let It Snow.” Contestants could subject up to two pieces of art in any medium as long as it contained snow.

Nearly 500 pieces of art were submitted! The contest has just ended, and the first place winner is…

*Amy Porter! Congratulations! Her photograph of a young buck entitled “Winter Buck” shows the beauty of the falling snow in Connecticut.

Doodles of 11/27/16 – With A Blog Post

doodles-11-17-16

I’m not exactly sure why I want to punish my readers with this eye sore, but I just needed an excuse to get away from the holiday madness so here are my doodles of 11/27/16.

There’s four turkeys since I was practicing for my Thanksgiving drawing with the horrible pun that’s so bad that I must repeat it:

Q. “Why do turkeys not eat anything on Thanksgiving”

A. “Because they’re always stuffed!”

There are some really bad scribbles, and a drawing based off the character of Cesare in the German silent horror film from 1920 called “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.” I usually struggle with watching silent films, but I find that the horror films become even more terrifying due to the grimy quality of the equipment of the time.

The woman’s face on the bottom is based off Greta Garbo. I had just watched the film “Ninotchka” (1939) which I enjoyed very much.

Anyways, I was just wondering how high my reader’s stress levels are this holiday season. Christmas is just over two weeks away, and I must admit that I’m not prepared at all! The holiday commercials are really making me panic. Surely I should have already gone into 20k debt already to really get into the Christmas spirit. That’s how it works, right? :p

My Super Late Thanksgiving Post – With a Bad Pun!

Happy belated Thanksgiving. I know that I’m five days late, but considering that Cyber Monday was just yesterday, I’ll just count it as one day :p

Here’s my drawing of a turkey that is the level of a five year old in Kindergarten, and if you think that’s bad enough, just wait, there’s more! I couldn’t resist adding in a horrible pun to go along with it!

turkey-2016-2-smaller

So, how was everyone’s Thanksgiving weekend? Did you spend it stuffing yourself with turkey & mashed potatoes? Maybe you had to bite your tongue while listening to relatives you never get along with, or you could be a lucky soul that just stayed home & relaxed. I did all of the above.

Some of you must have been ripping apart others for a discounted flat screen T.V. during Black Friday, which is totally insane but I love you anyways. I’m not really of fan of shopping any time of the year, so I skipped that mess and ordered some things on Cyber Monday. (Thrilling, I know :p)

Anyways, hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Gobble, gobble!
